Who We Are
Based in East Cornwall, Karrek Stone is a proud, family-run, multi-award-winning business specialising in bespoke slate cutting and craftsmanship — all carried out in our own yard in Saltash, Cornwall.
Every project, whether a hearth, worktop, tabletop, window cill, coping stone, step or shelf, is carefully cut and meticulously finished by our in-house slate specialist. We don’t merely cut slate—we bring your vision to life, with precision, attention to detail and passion.
We work with premium Brazilian slate, available in both riven and honed finishes. Each slab exhibits its own unique character, and customers are warmly invited to our yard to hand‑pick their piece under the guidance of our experienced slate specialist .
Our Story
Karrek Stone was built around a simple idea — offer genuinely bespoke slate cutting with the personal service you only get from a small, family-run business.
From our workshop in Saltash, every piece is cut and finished in-house. Over the years we’ve worked on everything from straightforward slate hearths and window cills to unusual templates, large worktops, tabletops and one-off projects that require a little more thought.
Being a small specialist business also means we can be flexible. We’ve turned around urgent hearths in a matter of hours, welcomed customers who want to choose their own slab, and regularly produce pieces that simply aren’t available off the shelf.
It’s that combination of traditional hands-on craftsmanship, attention to detail and a willingness to take on the unusual that has shaped Karrek Stone into the business it is today.
